Fall Academic Award Ceremony

The School of Engineering has many outstanding student scholars within its numerous departments and programs. On Friday, September 25, 2009, 25 of these hard working scholars had the honor of attending an award ceremony to honor their achievements. The main purpose of this evening was to recognize the students for their dedication to academic excellence by presenting them with merit scholarships and academic awards which truly showed how their work paid off.
The evening began with Dean Schreiner explaining that “although the semester’s in full swing, it is important to take this moment to recognize the past accomplishments of our students and to look forward to future achievements.” Thanks to the contributions of alumni, faculty, staff, and the Trenton Computer Festival, the School of Engineering was able to grant the Armstrong Scholarship Award for Engineering, the Engineering Fund Scholarship, the Harris Rawicz Scholarship Award and the CMX Community Scholarship Award to 8 students. There were also departmental awards given to 17 students. These awards were given to sophomores, juniors and seniors for their outstanding academic performance as evidenced by achieving a high GPA in their major.

Before the ceremony adjourned, the Dean reminded the students that these awards don’t come cheap. Now that they received these scholarships and awards it was their responsibility to be “examples of excellence for others to follow.” It was his hope that these students would be an “inspiration for other students to achieve their goals.” These outstanding students continue the tradition of excellence at the School of Engineering.
